Discountinuing the bounty program

Some time ago, we set up a bounty program in Tuist where we’d flag issues and compensate people for the work they did to address them.

From the start, it became clear that monetary incentives alone wouldn’t lead to the code quality we aim for at Tuist. Many of the resulting pull requests ended up costing us more time to review than it would have taken to implement the solutions ourselves. We’re happy to invest that time when there’s genuine interest on the other side (someone looking to learn and become familiar with the codebase), but that wasn’t often the case.

Just recently, things took a turn. We began noticing a new pattern: people using AI agents to open pull requests. These were easy to spot, as many didn’t even compile on CI. These were issues that would have been caught with a simple local build. If reviewing a pull request from someone with no real interest in Tuist was frustrating, doing it for poor-quality work generated by a GPU was even worse.

We’ve decided that Tuist is better off without this program. As of today, the bounty program is discontinued, and all related labels have been removed from the repository.

We’ll continue to support anyone genuinely interested in improving Tuist, whether through new features, fixes, or other contributions. Tuist is a collaborative project, and it’s the curiosity, commitment, and shared vision of its contributors that will shape the Tuist we want to build.
