Help Tuist's documentation speak Japanese and Korean

Languages are powerful accessibility tools. They enable us to connect with new communities who feel most comfortable working in their native language, inviting them to contribute to shaping our project. This leads to a more inclusive tool, designed with a broader range of needs and perspectives in mind.

At Tuist, weโ€™ve long wanted to translate our website and documentation for this very reason. However, due to limited resources, it has always been postponed, despite Tuist having a strong presence in countries like South Korea and Japan. But thatโ€™s changing now. Weโ€™ve integrated our documentation siteโ€”and soon, the new websiteโ€”into Crowdin, a collaborative localization platform often described as the GitHub for translations.

This is just the beginning. To truly make our content accessible, we need native speakers to help translate the documentation and keep it updated with future changes. Are you interested in helping?

As a token of our appreciation, weโ€™ll give you free access to Tuist server features like binary caching, smart test runs, previews, and more for your personal projects. Just reach out with your project details at [email protected], and weโ€™ll get you set up. Together, we can break down linguistic barriers.

We also have tons of users in Russian-speaking countries, so if there are any Russian-speaking folks that would love to help, thatโ€™d be amazing!

Might be worth setting that up and calling that out on our social media as well @pepicrft.

Good point! I opened a PR adding Russian as another language that we went want to translate to. Iโ€™ll announce that in the social channels.

For anyone

Alsoโ€ฆ if you are part of a community that you think would benefit from having the documentation in a language thatโ€™s not yet supported, let us know and we can add it to the list

I sent a request as a Japanese speaker. I look forward to contributing.

Hi @tdkn

The request is accepted now :). Thanks a lot for your support.
As mentioned, weโ€™d offer the paid Tuist features for free, so let me know if you have any project that youโ€™d like to integrate into those features and Iโ€™ll happily enable it.

Cheers,
Pedro

Welcome to the forum @ungchun
Your request should be accepted now

We updated the guidelines page addressing a couple of things that we noticed from the translations:

  • IDs in headings should not be translated
  • Alert types should not be translated

Iโ€™d recommend to check that out and let me know if thereโ€™s any questions.

Iโ€™m also looking for someone that can help approve Korean translations. Would anyone be interested in taking that role?

I am familiar with the guide, and I will continue to contribute to Korean translations. Thank you!

If multiple people can take on that role, I would also be interested!

Welcome to the community forum @bbiguduk & @honghoker . You are both now language coordinators for Korean, so you can approve translations by other people and ensure translations are consistent and accurate.

If thereโ€™s anything in the process that you think could be improved or requires more documentation Iโ€™d appreciate if you can tell us.

I canโ€™t wait to see our documentation completely in Korean
